Train service operating on the main line was disrupted following an accident at the Wilwaththa level crossing this morning, the Railway Control Room said.
They said train No. 0535, which was bound for Ratmalana from Polgahawela, had met with an accident at 6.15 a.m. at the Wilwaththa level crossing.
It was reported that the container truck had entered through the railway crossing at the time the road was closed to vehicles.
Both up and down rail tracks were damaged, and the train service on the main line has been disrupted.
