Japan to provide vocational training opportunities for SL youth

Japan has agreed to provide professional training opportunities to Sri Lankan youth following a discussion held between Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha and high-ranking officials of Japan, on the development of educational cooperation between the two countries.

The discussion was held yesterday at the Education Ministry between the Education Minister and a high-level Japanese delegation, including Japanese State Minister Fujimaru Satoshi and former State Minister Kozo Yamamoto, regarding the expansion and strengthening of vocational education cooperation between Sri Lanka and Japan. Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki also participated in the discussion.

Minister Premajayantha said that attention will be paid to the application of Japanese education systems, with optimal professional training opportunities, to the education system in Sri Lanka.

The Japanese delegation agreed to provide professional training opportunities to young workers in Sri Lanka through the Japan Technical Institute and to provide necessary support to formally train teachers who teach Japanese.

Also, Minister Premajayantha drew the attention of the Japanese Minister to the creation of more educational opportunities and employment opportunities for the students and workers of this country.
