Opportunity for 10,000 Sri Lankans for Israeli jobs

Based on an agreement signed by Israeli Interior Minister Moshe Abel and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandaranaike, Israel has decided to hire 10,000 Sri Lankans as farm workers.

According to Israeli media indicate that the agreement will be signed after the Cabinet approves it, allowing Israeli companies to bring in 5,000 workers from abroad for the agricultural sector.

Israeli agriculture has been hit hard by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and 8,000 of the 30,000 foreign workers who came to work in Israel for that sector have fled Israel. Other workers have been arrested and held hostage by Hamas, and others have been killed.
