The first match of the three-match encounter between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the ODI series hosted by Sri Lanka started yesterday (22) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Suriyawewa, Hambantota.
 
Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 201 runs in 47.1 overs. Imam ul Haq became the highest scorer of the innings, scoring 61 runs, and Shadab Khan helped with 39 runs.

While bowling, Mujeeb Ur Rehman took 3 for 33 runs.

For Pakistan’s score of 201, the Afghans scored just 59 runs in 19.2 overs due to the strong Pakistani bowlers. Accordingly, Pakistan won by a big gap of 142 runs. Haris Rauf bowled brilliantly for Pakistan, taking 5 for 18 runs.

Harris Rauf became the Player of the Match. Also, the second ODI decided to be held tomorrow at Suriyawewa Stadium as a Day and Night game.
