The Department of Meteorology has forecasted multiple instances of showers in specific regions of the country. These include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
Furthermore, there is a likelihood of showers or thundershowers in various areas of the Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces during the evening or night.
We kindly urge the general public to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Maritime Conditions:
In sea areas along the coast from Puttalam to Hambantota, passing through Colombo, Galle, and Matara, there is a possibility of showers or thundershowers. The prevailing winds in this region will be south-westerly, with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph.
It’s worth noting that wind speeds may occasionally increase to 50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
In these areas, sea conditions can become rough at times, and during thundershowers, there is the potential for temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas. Please exercise caution and stay updated on the latest weather information.
