Disruption of Urban Development Projects Highlighted in Parliamentary Committee

The Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committee on Environment, Natural Resources & Sustainable Development has revealed that 11 projects initiated by the Urban Development Authority have come to a halt due to inter-agency conflicts within the government.

Committee Chairman and Gampaha District Parliamentarian, Ajith Mannapperuma, disclosed that a significant sum of approximately Rs. 2,531 million had already been invested in these projects in total.

Parliamentarian Mannapperuma emphasized that the people of Sri Lanka are ultimately losing out on the anticipated benefits that these projects were intended to deliver in this regard.
