57 lakh outstanding bills cut electricity in Dimbulagala Hermitage

CEB has taken steps to cut off the electricity at Dimbulagala Aranya Senasana due to an outstanding electricity bill of 57 lakh rupees.

Theros, who live in the Dimbulagala Hermitage, which is located in an area that is heavily affected by the threat of wild elephants, say that their lives are in serious danger due to this.

In 1982, the late President J R Jayawardena gave free electricity to Aranya Senasana, considering the unique religious service that Senasana would provide to society.

However, since September last year, the CEB has taken steps to issue a bill for the electricity of Aranya Senasana, the monks said.
